Each year we put together a Christmas list for the kids. Tara compiles a list of things that they have asked for, things that they have desired, and things that they have showed interest in. We take that list and decide which things we want to get them, then we pass it on to family and others who want ideas. That list consists of toys, cloths, video games, and so on. Alexa and Peyton don't show a lot of desire for things so we have to pay close attention. We don't walk through Wal-Mart or target hearing I want this, I want that, I like that. They just aren't normal in that sense(I'm not complaining at all).
Think about this, have you ever compiled a list of the major gifts that God gave us through His SOn. Just through Jesus being born there is a list a mile long of gifts we receive from God.
THe first one I think of is a way to God. Through the birth of Christ God in a sense built a bridge from His heart to ours. That is a costly bridge because of our sin, it had to be built.
John 14:6 JEsus says, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes unto the Father except through Me."
There you have it without the birth of Christ, we have no way to God. We continually damage our relationship with God, and He is holy, perfect and unblemished. Sin can have no contact with God, and because our hearts and our minds are so full of sin we cannot communicate directly with Him. We needed the birth of CHrist, we needed the gift of life and a way to God.
So take advantage of this gift, the greatest Christmas gift is salvation, but we can't begin to understand salvation until we can have a way to God.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
