As a junior varsity softball coach in highschool there is one thing that we can never defeat and that is the sun. Junior varsity softball teams play at 5pm most of the time which means some part of your team will be looking straight into the sun. They all wear their stylish shades and some even wear eye black to shield themselves from the sun. The bottom line is there is just not much way to deal with it as it goes down and is right in your line of vision as you watch the batter. I often catch our players a few steps out of position and when I ask them why they are out of position they tell me it is because they were in the shade, they had found a place where a tree or light pole was shielding them from the sun. As Christians we have a lot of people who are currently standing in the shade, hidin from the SON.
These believers are straddling the fence and allowing worldliness to daily come into their lives rather than standing in the light that takes away all of the darkness. It's important that we stand in the light, Jesus calls us to not only be in the light but to be the light and we cannot do that if we are standing in the darkness all the time.
1 John 1:5-7 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
There you have it, God is light and there can be no darkness found anywhere close to Him, ever! If we are walking with Him there is no room for the darkness, there is only light when we walk with HIm daily. We will still sin, still make mistakes, but we will not welcome the sin or embrace the sin as we did before. So embrace God daily, allow His light to overcome you and snatch you out of the darkness and out of the shadows to where you can be used by Him to light up your portion of this world.
Thanks for reading and have an awesome weekend!
