The answer to the question have you ever been enslaved is an easy one: Yes ofcourse you have. We all have been slaves to sin, slaves to many things in life that have even at times taken us to our knees. As humans we are born to live selfishly and in our own ways. We like to chase after silly things that we think bring us pleasure in reality they build barriers between us and God. I see so many people who are great and strong people being enslaved by sins. Anywhere from sexual sins, to other immoral behaviors to drugs and alcohol, gambling you name it. These are things that can take root in our lives and absolutely ruin us. God has a plan for us, and many times it takes conquering these sins and these lifestyles to make us realize what that plan is and how wonderful the plan is.
Genesis 15:14 says, "But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will come out with great possessions."
True the Israelites were slaves and they were put in that situation by many of their own selfish actions, but God wanted them there. And in that time as slaves they built up so many different qualities and possessed so many great things that they learned to conquer so much.
The Israelites learned many more lessons on their journey out of being slaves. BUt God says that He will see to it that the things that we have overcome, and broken free of as slaves will leave us with great possessions. The greatest possessions we ccan have is that of conquerors. Think of the things that you have conquered in life. It may be having paid of your car or house, think about the power and freedom you felt that very moment that last payment was made, you conquered it. The next month when that payment was normally due you felt so much freedom and so much relief. It is the same way with sin, I have seen people who were struggling mighty with a sin and trying all they can to overcome it. Then, they overcome it and it is liberating, but it is far more empowering when they go to the place or near people struggling with that sin. They possess so much power in those moments that the sin seems like a distant memory.
So allow God to help you out of the things that are enslaving you, and realize the possessions that are awaiting you the moment you turn those things over to God. Power is yours for the taking, but you have to truly want it.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
