Success

Have you ever met someone that seems to be good at everything? They're a little on the cocky side in all aspects of life aren't they. Well, it's important that we understand success, and understand where it comes from. Proverbs tells us that "pride goes before the fall." I believe that to be true. There are people that I know, even some working in the ministry, that are on that path. They don't listen to others, they don't view people as equals and therefore they are on their way to a fall. God humbles us in many ways, He humbles when we don't think we need to be and that is why our gauge for pride and GOd's will never match up.
When we think we accomplished something on our own, God sees that. When people are puffed up, arrogant or just downright proud we see that, God has seen that developing long before we see the warning signs.
How do we keep this in check? listen to Paul's words in in Romans.
"For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you" (Rom. 12:3).
Think of yourself in terms of the measure of faith God has given you. Remember you're a sinner, you're totally dependent on God and you do not deserve one second of His attention, much less His friendship.
God is great! He is patient with us, but we must learn to give credit where credit is due. All success comes from God, and all the talents and abilities to acheive such success come from Him as wel.
