headlights

So you know you have heard the BIble referred to as the Living Word. That means it is alive and it speaks straight to our hearts. It also means that it is just as relevant today as it was 2000 years ago. Today, we can get up and spend time in the word and have the very words of God and His chosen writers speak to our hearts through out the day. We can feel the presence of God as we see things happen during our daily routine that His word already prepared us for. This happens each day if you will take the time to start your day off with God's Word.
Tara's new car is about 2 years old now, but it is still new to us. It has a lot of gadgets on it that are helpful for doing all sorts of things. One of the things I noticed first while I was playing around with it was the back up lights. It has some of the brightest back up lights I have ever seen. You can put that baby in reverse and light up behind you well enough to actually see what you are backing into. They're great, but they are not nearly as bright as the headlights. If you had to choose between driving with headlights to light your path or back up lights you would obviously chose headlights.
Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path"
This verse tells us how to use the Word of God, as a lamp. A light unto your path, not back up lights. If you were walking in the dark you would want to see where you are going, not where you've been. Same way with God's word, you need to use it to prepare you for your day, not to cover up your tracks.
This is why I think it is very important to have an early morning quiet time routine. We need to prepare ourselves(light up) the day to come, not the day that is behind us.
Thanks for reading and have an awesome day!
