I run into interesting characters in my line of work with the Betty Griffin House. And, I must admit I struggle with the different views of people in this field of work, even those claiming to be Christians. They see so much and view so many things so far apart from the way I believe God intends.
Several of them have debated that Christianity was just created to make us feel less good about ourselves. To take the fun out of life and to make people carry around extra guilt. I can see where without much interaction with the Bible, without any knowledge of Christ and His life you could make that mistake. But I still don't permit it.
John 3:17 says, For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.
Now, I know that anyone who has attended church for any amount of time has read and probably memorized John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.
But, how many times have we read on and comprehended the next verse. The verse that tells us why Christ was indeed sent. Not to condemn us, not to bring shame to us, not to make us feel less good in our sinful nature. But simply put, He came to save us. That is all we really need to know about Him, that He came to save us from our sins and from Hell itself.
So don't let the perfect life of Christ discourage you, and certainly don't let others tell you that being a Christian is a drag. I promise you I have more fun than any non-Christian doing all the wrong things they may be involved in.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
