Major on the major, minor on the minor

That has been my philosophy on youth ministry and ministry in general from day one. Major on the major, and minor on the minor. Last night we lived it out somewhat. I brought my crew from the Homeless Coalition to youth with me last night. The majority of them had never been in church before, some had but not for a long, long time. I feel some of them may have been there to check out my life outside of the Coalition, some may have been there just to get out of the house. Regardless of why they were there, it's important that we focus on loving them and exposing them to God.
In the past we've had boys come who were checking out a girl in the group, girls who were checking out a boy. It doesn't matter why they're there, let's expose them to teh word of God, and that is exactly what I feel we did last night. I thank all of our crew for accepting them and loving them.
In Philippians 1:15 - 18 Paul writes, "It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowig that I am put here for the defense of the Gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. An because of the I rejoice.
There it is. Major on the major, minor on the minor in the apostle Paul's own words. He didn't care why or how the Gospel was being shared, just that it was being shared. Let's keep on loving those who need it and keep on sharing the Gospel with those who need it.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
