My favorite tract

Through the years I have admired bumper stickers and CHristian tracts alike. For those who aren't aware, a tract is a little pamphlet cleverly put together for a Christian to give a non-believer to peak their interest. I have met a lot of people who use them, I am not a big fan of using them but I don't mind quoting them from time to time.
There's one I found at Crescent Beach Baptist Church while we were in between churches that was our church home, they have a rack outside their sanctuary with tract in it and I'm sure you can guess why I picked this one. It has a picture of a football player, a basketball player and a baseball player on the outside. It says, "I've always been a sports fan."
Inside it lists reasons people don't go to church, but uses pictures to illustrate the sports theme idea. Here are the reasons they list that people don't go to church:
1. They always ask for money - next to it is a ticket booth where at sports games they ask for money.
2. The people I sat next to weren't very friendly - next to it a picture of rowdy fans of the other team outnumbering a fan.
3. The seats were too hard - have you ever been to a sporting event where they weren't?
4. The coach never asked my advice - but we expect the pastor to.
5. The referees made some bad calls - don't we all!
6. Some people cared more about their looks than the game - fanatical fans with their faces painted.
7. Some of the games went into overtime - in sports this is a blessing, in worship you are in big trouble.
8. The band played some songs I didn't know- this one really hits home doesn't it.
9. Too many games just didn't fit into my schedule - every Sunday?
10. My parents took me to too many games growing up - this is a good one!
11. I just read a book on sports and I know more than the coach does - doesn't everyone know more than the pastor?
12. I don't take my kids to games so that they can make their own decisions - this is a real attitude toward church, certainly not mine when it comes to sports or church.

So let me ask you, does this tract make you think? Do you use these same excuses for skipping church?
Isaiah 55:6 tells us to "Seek God while He can be found"
Don't make excuses for church that you wouldn't make for your favorite sports team.
